Anna Maria Oyster Bar announces a new restaurant location is coming to Sarasota County

Oysters Rock Hospitality, the parent company of Anna Maria Oyster Bar (AMOB) and Café L’Europe, announced today the purchase of property in North Port where the sixth Anna Maria Oyster Bar will be located.

The new AMOB will be going into space formerly occupied by Family Table restaurant at 14132 Tamiami Trail in North Port. Also in the works is an Anna Maria Oyster Bar going into space previously occupied by Newk’s Eatery in The Square at University Town Center, 5405 University Parkway.

Opening for the University Parkway and North Port stores, the local chain’s fifth and sixth, will be around the first of the year, John Horne, chief executive of Oysters Rock Hospitality, said Monday. “North Port is a special community that really reminds us of Bradenton. We loved meeting so many new neighbors when we hosted a pop-up meal service in the wake of Hurricane Ian. The people we met were so incredibly giving, friendly, and gracious — anyone would be lucky to have them as neighbors or guests in their restaurant. We can’t wait to open our doors early next year to serve our signature brand of “Five Star Fun,” delicious food, and a great atmosphere,” Horne said in a press release.

The North Port restaurant will have a menu similar to the other AMOB locations, focusing on fresh fish, steaks and wings, along with oysters, burgers and margaritas. The North Port building will not require much construction to transform into an AMOB restaurant. But an indoor-outdoor bar will be added to the north end of the property. “We’ve found the perfect location to plant our flag in South Sarasota County. I’m especially grateful to the previous owners of this restaurant for maintaining it so well and being so accommodating throughout this transaction, even in the face of an approaching Category 4 hurricane,” Chris Frawley, chief operating officer of Oysters Rock Hospitality, said in the press release.
